Volunteer with us!
As a community library, we are managed and staffed entirely by volunteers and our resources are generated entirely by our own fundraising activities..
To find out about current volunteer vacancies, please contact us at admin@cornerstonelibrary.org.
We want volunteers to have an excellent experience in supporting the library. All volunteers and Trustees sign our volunteer charter which is part of our volunteer policy. The policy is underpinned by three principles:
- Choice: Volunteering must be a choice freely made by each individual. Any encouragement to become involved in volunteering should not result in any form of coercion or compulsion. Freedom to volunteer implies freedom not to become involved.
- Diversity: Volunteering should be open to all, no matter what their background, age, belief/faith, disability, gender, race, sexual orientation. Inclusiveness can build bridges, helping a diversity of people to feel usefully involved. Social exclusion barriers can be overcome by skills, experience, confidence and contacts gained while helping others.
- Recognition: Explicit recognition of the value of what volunteers contribute to the organisation, to the community, and to the wider social objectives, is fundamental to a fair relationship between volunteers and organisations
